RB Leipzig

“It’s all about winning games” – Marco Rose pre #RBLTSG

Marco Rose speaks to the media ahead of the game against TSG Hoffenheim

1. FSV Mainz 05

Planning for a season under difficult conditions

At the moment, nearly every Zerofiver is enjoying their summer holiday, apart from the sporting leadership. For some time now, the sporting executives at the club have been worrying about how best to deal with the upcoming 2022/23 season. It will be a very different season for all Bundesliga clubs, and perhaps not in a positive way. Midway through November, midway through the season, the 2022 FIFA World Cup will begin in Qatar, which means a two-month break for the regular league campaign and a season which will be difficult to plan for properly.

1. FC Union Berlin

Union takes top four spots

An Union player took the positions from two to four in the same category. Captain Christopher Trimmel, striker Taiwo Awoniyi and defender Robin Knoche make up Berlin’s top four footballers.

VfL Wolfsburg

„Perform as a unit“

VfL Wolfsburg have been on an upward trajectory for over a month now, with their last Bundesliga defeat coming seven matchdays ago. The Green-and-Whites registered comfortable victories at home to VfL Bochum and at 1. FSV Mainz 05 in their last two games, keeping a clean sheet in both encounters. Their next home fixture – the final one of 2022 – is at 18:30 CET on Tuesday 8 November against Borussia Dortmund, and represents a real yardstick for Niko Kovac and his players. At Monday’s pre-match press conference, the VfL boss answered questions on…

SV Werder Bremen

“The team came together really well”

The 4-2 win crowned off a special game of football: SV Werder defeated Hertha BSC in front of an incredible away crowd and took a big step towards their goal of staying in the league. Here is the reaction of Ole Werner and the players to the match.

VfL Bochum 1848

Eintracht turn it around

Leading at the break, but without anything to show for it in the end. VfL were beaten 2-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt. Sebastian Polter had headed the Blue and Whites into a halftime lead. After the change of ends, Erhan Masovic scored an own goal and Kamada finally scored the winning goal for the Hessians.

FC Augsburg

Maaßen: “Not look above or below us too much”

“We don’t want to look too much above or below us in the table,” said FCA coach Enrico Maaßen, who would rather focus on his team’s development than looking at the results of opponents. The Függerstädter are in 13th place and still five points clear of the relegation zone, six points from automatic relegation. “We have to pick up points ourselves and have the ambition to get three points every weekend,” said Maaßen ahead of the match against Frankfurt, who are currently in ninth place.

Eintracht are without a win in eight games and therefore concerned about not qualifying for European football again. “Frankfurt are not in a good period at the moment, but they are still a team that have played in the Champions League,” explained Maaßen. In the reverse fixture, FCA took the lead after just 31 seconds through Mergim Berisha, but the guests turned the game around with goals from Sebastian Rode and Ansgar Knauff. Maaßen’s aim now is to make the good periods for them in a game “even longer.”
