VfB Stuttgart

VfB news: Full focus on RB Leipzig

With a short turnaround ahead of the away game in Leipzig, we bring you all the latest news from the club’s headquarters. The new third jersey is set to be launched, while the home game against SC Freiburg is sold out.

1. FC Union Berlin

Union lose away at Borussia Dortmund

Marvin Friedrich put one in his own net before Kruse scored from the penalty spot on 57 minutes. Substitute Voglsammer headed in at a corner kick with nine minutes to play as Union pushed for an equaliser. That spirit was squashed shortly after as Haaland put home his second of the game to kill off the contest and leave the three points with Borussia Dortmund.

Brentford 3-2 Fulham: Ivan Toney nets penalty as Bees continue incredible unbeaten run

Toney is facing the prospect of a lengthy ban after being charged with a total of 262 alleged breaches of the Football Association’s gambling laws dating back to 2017.

Borussia Dortmund

“We had a lot of space in behind the lines”

Karim Adeyemi: “We had a lot of fun. We had a lot of space in behind the lines. We played a very good game and very much deserved to win. Everything went well. We were very aggressive and showed desire. Before the penalty, I asked him (editor’s note: Marco Reus): Can I take it? He said: Yes you take it. Ultimately, it really hurts. I should’ve left it to Marco. It’s about the team, I’m very annoyed that I didn’t score the three goals. But I am firmly convinced that we will win the next game too. Unfortunately, however, we don’t have it in our own hands.”

FC Bayern München

Roma coach José Mourinho “jealous” of Bayern Munich squad depth in Champions League victory over PSG

Per Sport1, after the game, Mourinho jokingly said: “I am actually not a jealous man, but when I saw yesterday who Bayern subbed in with [Serge] Gnabry, [Sadio] Mané and [Leroy] Sané, I did indeed turn a bit envious.”

SC Freiburg

Welcome back, Milli!

Philipp moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2017/18 and featured 51 times for BVB in the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, the Europa League and the Champions League. Following his time with Dortmund, the attacker had spells with Russian side Dynamo Moscow and then VfL Wolfsburg. The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at SV Werder Bremen and actually scored against Freiburg.

1. FC Union Berlin

Home Bundesliga clash with Arminia Bielefeld

Three days after the UEFA Europa Conference League loss in Prague, 1. FC Union Berlin put a solid fight to threaten Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park. Goals in the second half from Max Kruse and Andreas Voglsammer pulled the score back to 2-3 with Union on top in the final period of the match. Borussia Dortmund took a three-goal lead shortly after the restart of the second half with goals in both halves from Raphael Guerreiro, Erling Haaland and an own goal from Marvin Friedrich. Union’s character came to the fore and two goals put Marco Rose’s team under serious pressure. But Norwegian marksman Haaland finished off a superb lob, a minute or so after Voglsammer’s header to put the contest beyond doubt.

VfL Wolfsburg

Philipp off on loan to Freiburg

Forward Maximilian Philipp is leaving VfL Wolfsburg to join SC Freiburg – a club where he played his youth football. The Wolves have come to an agreement with SCF on a loan which will run until 30 June 2024.
