verdi strike: potential impact for Friday’s game

Due to the Verdi strike, there will be no services operating on DSW21 light rail and bus lines on Friday. This applies from the start of the day’s operations (approx. 03:30 CET) to the end of operations (approx. 01:30 CET the following day). The Unishuttle will also be affected. Similarly, the bus lines operated by DSW21 in the neighbouring towns of Castrop-Rauxel (480, 481, 482 and NE 11) and Schwerte (430, 435 and NE 25) will be affected. Deutsche Bahn and S-Bahn trains that are not affected by the strike may be far busier than usual. Please check directly with your local transport network about possible additional rail capacities (e.g. “Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe”).

SV Werder Bremen

Werder narrowly lose 2-1 to Augsburg

Despite passionate attacking play right up to the last second, SVW lost to Augsburg 2-1. The opening period got off to an eventful start without hesitation from either side, with a goal apiece. The opening goal by Beljo (6’) was cancelled out by Jens Stage ten minutes later (16’) when the Dane was in the right position at the back post. After that, both teams continued to attack and have chances, and went into half time deservedly level. In the second half, the hosts came out of the dressing room wide awake and took the lead again through Maier (46’). FCA then dropped back and managed to preserve their lead until the end.

November: First AGM under Markus Krapf

November began with a busy week with multiple matchdays, with FC Augsburg hosting Eintracht Frankfurt at the WWK ARENA. Despite a lightning fast start, with Mergim Berisha rifling the ball into the Eintracht net after exactly 35 seconds, FCA ultimately were condemned to a narrow 2-1 defeat.

Julian Nagelsmann has zero doubts about Sadio Mane at Bayern Munich

During Bayern’s four match winless streak in the Bundesliga, Mane, while not the only Bayern player to be guilty, missed a plethora of credible chances from that set of matches. It seemed like he was struggling to find the back of the net and, especially in the 1-0 loss at Augsburg, it felt like his touches were too heavy, a step behind, or a step ahead, though it certainly wasn’t for a lack of effort and hustle. In the Bundesliga, his returns are slightly behind what his xG stats read (per Understat), as he’s 1.26 goals behind his xG of 6.26 and .40 behind his xA of .40 — his only registered assist came in the 5-0, Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen.
