VfL Wolfsburg claimed their second victory of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season at the weekend, and as with the first triumph – a 2-0 success in Kiel – the 3-1 win over VfL Bochum also came away from home.

The result means that the Wolves have won four of their last seven away assignments in the league under head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl. Since he took charge of the side at the end of March, only champions Bayer Leverkusen have won more often on the road (five times).

Wind at the double: Jonas Wind scored in back-to-back Bundesliga games for the first time since August 2023. He made a significant contribution to the win in Bochum with two goals, making it 2-0 in the 37th minute before sealing the points at 3-1 in the 88th minute by finishing the rebound after missing a penalty.

Drought over: Tiago Tomas scored his first Bundesliga goal of the season against Bochum. It was his first league strike since September 2023, ending a run of 28 Bundesliga matches without a goal.

Amoura named Man of the Match again: As was the case the previous weekend, Mohammed Amoura was voted as Man of the Match by VfL fans. His assists for the first two goals in Bochum earned him 77 percent of the vote, putting him well ahead of runner-up Wind (15 percent) and Jakub Kaminski (three percent).

Starting debut: In Bochum, summer signing Denis Vavro made his first start for VfL.

Comeback: After suffering an ankle injury in a pre-season friendly against Serie A side Como 1907, Denmark international Joakim Maehle was finally able to return to action as a substitute in the closing stages in Bochum.
