DFB names David Raum in UEFA EURO 2024 squad

Well earned call up!

David Raum (26) was called up for the European Championship in Germany by national coach Julian Nagelsmann after a convincing season for the Red Bulls.

The left-back will take part in a European Championship for the first time after the 2022 World Cup. David made his debut for the German senior national team on September 5, 2021 against Armenia (6-0). Since then he has appeared 20 times for the national team.

David Raum on his call up:

“Of course, I’ve had my eye on it all season long that there will be a big highlight at the end of the season with the home European Championships. It’s probably the last chance in my career to play another tournament at home. And being there now is of course a huge dream. It is my second tournament that I have been able to play for Germany and I am very happy to be part of this team.

I think it’s a nice story that the call ups are a little more special this year. Of course, we knew a little in advance that it would happen like this, but not how exactly it would be announced. A great idea with the announcement at the airport. Now I’m happy that it’s out and I can officially accept all the congratulations.

Of course I’m looking forward to every game, especially the opening game and what the atmosphere will be like. If we win the first game, something big can happen and it will get better for us every game. But playing against teammates from RB Leipzig is something special, especially at such a big tournament.”

David Raum has developed into an absolute regular player and top performer for the Red Bulls this season. In the Bundesliga, the full-back provided ten assists in 31 games and scored twice himself. David also underlined his qualities in the Champions League with three assists and a goal.

The Nuremberg native came to the Red Bulls from TSG Hoffenheim in the summer of 2022 and celebrated his first title win (DFB Cup 2023) at the end of his first season. At the beginning of the current season, they won the Supercup against FC Bayern.
