Sebastian Hoeneß, VfB head coach: “The way we performed here makes me proud. The boys played with great courage. Today was an important step, but we’d do well to train our focus on our next game against Frankfurt.”

Alexander Nübel: “We had a bit of luck on our side in the first half. We played better in the second half and they didn’t really threaten our goal, so I think we deserved to win overall.”

Angelo Stiller: “Playing at centre-back was something that developed over the week and it worked out pretty well in the game. My team-mates and the coaching staff encourage me a lot, which is why today I just tried to approach the game as I always do. As a team, we want to pick up points against Frankfurt next week.
