Defeat in stoppage time!
The home team kept possession well in the early stages and had their first sight of goal in the fifth minute. Harry Kane’s point-blank header wasn’t enought to beat Janis Blaswichwhowas able to brilliantly direct the ball onto the post. RBL’s first shot came from Xavi who struck from distance in the 20th minute.
After a good half hour from RBL, Bayern went close again, Janis Blaswich did just enough to put off the unmarked Leroy Sane . And our keeper was there again to stop an overhead kick from Harry Kane just before half time.
After half time, RBL came out of the dressing room on the attack. Amadou Haidara tested Manuel Neuer from distance, with Mo Simakan narrowly missing the Bayern goal from the resulting corner (52′). It was RBL’s best spell yet but it was Bayern who took the lead shortly after, with Kane finishing into the far corner in the 56th minute
But our boys responded immediately. First Benjamin Sesko forced a good save from Manuel Neuer (61′), before our number 30 scored to equalize in the 70th minute. It looked like the points would be shared before Kane completed his brace in stoppage time. A bitter pill to swallow.

5′: Blaswich with a brilliant save!
- Bayern’s first really dangerous attack! Raphael Guerreiro has too much space and can cross to Harry Kane. Janis Blaswich reacts brilliantly and prevents RBL from going behind.
20′: Xavi from Distance!
- RBL’s first meaningful attack. Xavi dribbles well and shoots from distance, but the attempt is off target.
32′: FCB take control
- A good half hour so far. Bayern are the more active team, but our boys are compact in their own half and want to counterattack quickly. Both teams are cancelling each other out, but the last pass is lacking.
34′: Sane free in front of goal
- That was close. Jamal Musiala uses his pace and eases passed Leipzig’s defensive line to Leroy Sane, who then tries to get past Janis Blaswich, but our keeper makes himself big and shortens the angle significantly and Sane can’t find the back of the net.
42′: Kane bicycle kick
- FCB’s long ball into RBL’s penalty area finds Leon Goretzka, who beats Mo Simakan to the ball with his head. Harry Kane gets on the end of the header, but has his back to the goal. He attempts an acrobatic shot, but it is no problem for Janis .
53′: Haidara tests Neuer, Simakan narrowly misses
- RBL start the second half well! Amadou Haidara forces Manuel Neuer to make his first save with a shot from range, and the Bayern goalkeeper concedes a corner. Mo Simakan is the first to the loose ball off of the corner, unfortunately his volley is just wide.
56′: Kane gives Bayern the lead
Just as Leipzig looked to be on top…
Xaver Schlager is unlucky as his deflection of a Jamal Musiala pass pingsinto the RBL penalty area and to the foot of Harry Kane, who finishes calmly into the far corner.
61′: Neuer stops Sesko from leveling
- Aaah, almost 1-1! Benjamin Sesko gets to a through ball ahead of Eric Dier and shoots, but Manuel Neuer does well to hold on to his effort.
70′: 1:1! Sesko equalizes!
- There it is! Dani Olmo pokes the ball in the Bayern penalty area to Benjamin Sesko, whose shot is deflected into the goal by Leon Goretzka. Level!
80′: Kane heads over
- FCB are back on the attack. Leon Goretzka finds Harry Kane again with a cross, but the Englishman puts the ball well over.
90 + 1′: Kane scores again
- Once again Kane is in the right place in the box and volleys a shot into the far corner again. Tough to take.
