Borussia Dortmund have reached the third and final stop of their USA Tour: the BVB players arrived in Chicago (Illinois) from Las Vegas (Nevada) on Monday afternoon (local time) following a flight of around three hours.
The players were welcomed by numerous fans at the team hotel. Fan clubs from Chicago, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Atlanta, New York, St. Louis, Boston, Detroit and Dallas had come. The players were only too happy to sign autographs and pose for selfies following their arrival.
Autograph session
Marco Reus, Sebastien Haller, Alexander Meyer, Antonios Papadopoulos and BVB legend Roman Weidenfeller immediately headed for the first item on the agenda in Chicago. Together with their partner PUMA, BVB held an autograph signing session in a branch of the sporting goods retailer Dick’s Sporting Goods. Several hundred fans had come along, with the queue inside the shop stretching around three corners by the time the players arrived. A young man with a Brandt shirt was the first to receive autographs from and photos with the players. Julian Brandt was not among them but the joy at meeting the four players was nonetheless clear to see on his face.
Children’s football training
There were also many happy faces at a training session held by the BVB International Academy. The children on the football course were surprised by players Marius Wolf, Ramy Bensebaini, Salih Özcan, Gio Reyna and Julian Ryerson, who went through life kinetics exercises with them. And they did so in a special setting: the course took place high up in the air on the “Skyline Pitch”, which has a view over Chicago. (cr)
