Irvin Cardona loaned to AS Saint-Étienne
Attacker moves to France until end of the season
FC Augsburg started their preparation for the second half of their season on Tuesday. Irvin Cardona was not involved in their first training session of 2024, however. The 26-year-old, who has appeared in 13 Bundesliga games for FCA (one goal, one assist), has returned to his native France on a six-month loan move and will play for AS Saint-Étienne for the remainder of the season.
Both clubs have opted against disclosing the details of the loan deal for the attacker, who arrived at Augsburg from Stade Brest in January 2023 and signed a contract until 30th June 2027.
“Irvin didn’t play much in the first half of the season. The loan to Saint-Étienne represents a very good opportunity for Irvin to get some regular gametime for an ambitious club under his former coach. We’re convinced that this deal is the best-case scenario for all parties and that Irvin will be able to return to Augsburg in the summer as a better player,” said Marinko Jurendic on the loan deal.
