Head coach Ole Werner: “The excellent performance today is even more impressive when you consider which players are missing and how little time we had to adapt to the changes. The team dealt with the situation really well, though. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t manage to convert our chances into a win. We showed character and picked up a thoroughly deserved point.”
Marco Friedl: “We played really well and did a lot off defending off the ball. The bottom line is that we had many of chances to win the game. We would’ve taken the point before the game, and we more than deserved the draw today. We put in a really mature performance for 90 minutes.”
Justin Njinmah: “It was an open game which became a bit frantic towards the end. We definitely could’ve come away with a win on another day. For me, it was a good game, but not a perfect one by any stretch of the imagination. I want to continue to perform. We’re happy that we’ve managed to take a point off a team like Leipzig. It was a good way to close out the year.”
Leonardo Bittencourt: “We showed too much respect at the start of the game, but then started to improve as the game went on. Who would’ve thought that Leipzig would give us so many chances? We did a lot right over the course of the whole game. We’ll definitely be happy with the point tomorrow, but at the moment we’re disappointed that we didn’t get more from the game.”
