An U17 girls’ team will represent Borussia Dortmund for the first time in the 2023/24 season. It will be the first youth team in the still short history of the girls’ and women’s football department.

A trial training session took place at the BVB Evonik Football Academy premises in February. Almost four months later, the 23-person squad is confirmed. The team consists of players between the ages of 12 and 16 who hail from Dortmund and the surrounding area.

The Black & Yellow youngsters will be coached by Marc Liesler, the former coach of the RW Unna women’s team. The 30-year-old will be supported by Annika Billig, who last played for the BVB women in the Bezirksliga.

The new U17s will start training at 18:15 CET on 17 July. The new team will train and play home games at the BVB Evonik Football Academy. The U17s will compete in Kreisliga A.

The first friendly fixture will be against the RW Ahlen U17s in Dortmund on 22 July. Kick-off is at 15:00 CET. There will then be a three-day training camp in Willingen at the start of August. The first league match will take place on 19 August. The opponent and venue are still unconfirmed.
