David Raum and Xavi nominated for UCL awards

The third matchday of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League season is complete.

Our lads impressed in the 3-1 victory over Crvena zvezda and earned valuable points in their hunt to reach the Round of 16.

David Raum andXavi stood out in particular with their performances at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday evening. The duo linked up superbly on the left flank and set up each other’s goals. David calmly slotted home Xavi’s pinpoint pass to make it 1-0, before the Dutchman came up with a brilliant strike after getting the ball off our left back to make it 2-0 in the second half .

UEFA named David Raum ‘´Player of the Match’. He was pleased with the 3-1 win: “I’m delighted that we’ve won and that I could help the team out with my performance.” David was also keen to stress that he wasn’t the only RBL player who deserved recognition: “ Xavi deserves this award at least as much as I do, as he also scored and assisted a goal.”

Of course, Xavi would say the same about Raum – and he himself could still receive an award. His sensational curler to make it 2-0 is up for the Champions League Goal of the Week.
