Edin Terzic fielded questions from journalists at the press conference. We have summarised what was said below.
Edin Terzic on the game and top spot in the table:
We’re satisfied with the performance and with the result too. But it’s only a step that we’ve taken. Every player wanted to show that the way we performed in the second half in Stuttgart last week did not meet our standards and was also not what we deserve when you see what we have invested over the course of the season to date. We’re very satisfied with the game today, but we’re still not happy and we still have a lot of work ahead of us.
…on Donyell Malen’s performance peak:
Today was the best performance we’ve seen from Donny in a BVB shirt. He played an outstanding game. He had already improved throughout the course of the first half-season but he was always a bit unlucky; he was one or two centimetres off and missing that last little bit of conviction in his finishing. Now you can see what capabilities he has.
…on the week between Stuttgart and Frankfurt:
We sat down together on Sunday and looked through the scenes that worked well in the first half. Inexplicably, we stopped doing them in the second half, offered less in all areas and passed the responsibility on to the person next to us. It hurt to look at the footage again. It was a case of getting everything moving in the right direction. We can’t get back the two points we dropped. We can only make sure that the point we took is one that gives us something to celebrate at the end.
…on the substitution of Nico Schlotterbeck:
He was holding his thigh and feeling some pain again. He really wanted to keep on playing, but we took him off to be on the safe side, even though he didn’t like it. All the tests during the week were positive; the risk was very low.
