At youth level, Justin Njinmah played for Eimsbütteler TV, Holstein Kiel and finally moved to SVW. There, the attacker played for the U23 side, which is why he only knows his new teammates in the Bundesliga in passing. He has only remained in contact with Nick Woltemade, who was also loaned out to SV Elversberg in the 3. Liga last season. “We texted regularly,” recalled Njinmah. “We mostly congratulated each other after the games if the other was successful.”

During his time at BVB, Njinmah played under three coaches in Enrico Maaßen, Christian Preußer and Jan Zimmermann. The fast-paced winger managed to prove himself to all three and even made his Bundesliga debut in the first team against Leipzig (3-0). Particularly since February, Njinmah has drawn a lot of attention with 11 goals in the 3. Liga and has been in the first-team squad on another two occasions. “Especially as a striker, it gives you an enormous amount of self-confidence when you score goals,” said Njinmah. “But I can play in all positions up top, I’m flexible and I bring pace.”

Of course, the quality that he showed, above all in the second half of the season, has been noticed by other clubs. Despite other options, Njinmah decided that his journey at Werder Bremen was not over yet. “I want to prove myself in the Bundesliga because it’s the greatest thing in this country to play in this league,” explained the 22-year-old. “When I get my chance, I will do everything I can to make the most of it.”
