Looking to adapt to the challenge

SVW also want to get back to winning ways, whilst they have been boosted by the return of three players.

FC Augsburg

3-1 defeat in Frankfurt

In contrast to last week’s 2-0 home victory over 1. FC Union Berlin, FCA head coach Jess Thorup was able to call upon Kristjan Jakić and Kevin Mbabu, who had both been injured recently. After overcoming a foot injury, Niklas Dorsch was also ready to return to the squad.

Borussia Dortmund

BVB players impress in opening win at U17 World Cup

Charles Herrmann assisted the goals for 1-0 by Noah Darvich (29) and 3-0 by Eric da Silva Moreira (53) in exemplary fashion, either side of initiating the goal for 2-0 by Max Moerstedt. Paris Brunner proved to be a real headache for the Mexican defence and was denied by the opposition goalkeeper following a spectacular solo run in the 57th minute. Herrmann was named the “Man of the Match” by FIFA after the game.

FC Augsburg

Vargas: “It’s a very frustrating defeat”

Mads Pedersen: “We did well defensively in the first half and only allowed them the odd chance. We failed to continue in this fashion after the break. Of course we’re disappointed, but we need to focus on the next game. We want to show a different side to us next weekend and have a good chance of picking up more points in our final four games.”

FC Bayern München

Thomas Tuchel stuck to plan to let Bayern Munich players rest and reset after Mainz debacle

And boy, do they need it. Tuchel lamented the team’s exhausted state in the wake of their disappointing defeat to Mainz last Saturday, and the bossman has decided that some time off to renew and refresh was in order.

SC Freiburg

“We’ll be happy to win at home again”

SC are, however, winless in their last five at home. “It’s obviously annoying that we’ve only won once at home in the second half of the season. But we’ve hosted some decent opponents and we’ll be happy to finally win at home again.” Freiburg have a strong recent record against the 05ers, and are unbeaten in the last five meetings between the sides. Roland Sallai is suspended for Sunday’s match after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season last time out against Darmstadt, while Lucas Höler is available for selection after serving a suspension of his own.

TSG Hoffenheim

In search of consistency

There have been losses across the board. Borussia Mönchengladbach suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 29 and had plenty of wounds to lick afterwards. In addition to the three points, the Foals also lost five first team players through injury. Worst hit was attacker Jordan, who suffered a torn muscle in his left thigh and could be out for the season. Also on the list of absentees are Nathan Ngoumou (ankle ligament tear), Stefan Lainer (knee ligament strain), Franck Honorat (knee ligament strain) and Nico Elvedi (knee tendon irritation).
