Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 2, Episode 32 — A preview of Bayern Munich vs. Gladbach…

A bit banged up and maybe a little weary, Julian Nagelsmann will have some key decisions to make this weekend, but that is not nearly all there is to talk about this week. This is what we have on tap for this episode:

SC Freiburg

Not feeling the pressure ahead of trip to Berlin

This weekend’s clash with Union Berlin could be a key moment in determining whether SC will be able to finish in the top four. Head coach Urs Fischer’s side will also be representing the Bundesliga on the European stage next season, and like SC, are still fighting for the best possible position in the table. Both sides are currently on 56 points heading into Saturday’s clash, with the Berliners just ahead of SC on goal difference. “We’re in a good position and can go into the match feeling optimistic,” said SCF head coach Christian Streich. “The same goes for Union. Like us, they have played a fantastic season so far, setting up this special clash. We’re looking forward to it.”

Bundesliga record players: Baumann moves into top 50

Oliver Baumann has made 289 Bundesliga appearances in a TSG Hoffenheim shirt. That also makes the TSG captain Hoffenheim’s record player ahead of Sebastian Rudy (288). Manuel Neuer (478) and Thomas Müller (434) are the only current Bundesliga players to have made more appearances.

1. FSV Mainz 05

The long wait for an away win finally comes to an end

The Zerofivers won their final away game of the season on Saturday evening in front of 70,000 fans at Hertha’s Olympiastadion. Silvan Widmer gave FSV the lead in the first half after a goalkeeping error but the Berliners responded in stoppage time through a David Selke spot-kick. Mainz took control of the game in the second half and were eventually rewarded through a Stefan Bell winner with just ten minutes to play.

€80m ‘offer’ from Arsenal for forward revealed as Gunners eye Spaniard on a free

It could’ve been an even better summer window for Arteta if they had got another striker over the line with presenter of Campania Sport on Canale 21, Umberto Chiariello, claiming the Gunners lodged an €80m bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
