Maximilian Beier signs contract extension
“Maxi is currently one of the shooting stars of German football and we are pleased that we were able to make a landmark decision with him regarding his further sporting career at TSG and prematurely extend his contract for another two years,” said managing director Alexander Rosen. “At TSG, he has matured from an academy player to a professional and is therefore another prime example of the Hoffenheim way,” Rosen explained, predicting: “With his unbelievable willingness to work, as well as his courageous and extremely refreshing playing style, he has a great future ahead of him.”
“Maxi is an enormously fast attacker who not only carries a threat going forward at all times, but can also constantly cause opponents problems in the build-up play due to his aggressive running style”, added Pirmin Schwegler, head of professional football at TSG. “Despite his current success, he has remained down-to-earth and completely straightforward to deal with. He does not let the huge interest in him distract him, and instead remains authentic and focuses on his tasks. Maxi wants to learn more every day. We will still get a lot more enjoyment out of in him in the future.”
“I feel very comfortable at TSG, enormously appreciated and am sure that I can still develop significantly on the pitch in this environment,” said Maximilian Beier, explaining his decision. “TSG and the people in charge at the club placed their trust in me very early on in my career and developed me into a Bundesliga player step by step, both in the academy and with the joint decision regarding my loan to Hannover 96. I am now looking to establish myself as a Bundesliga player here and continue to pursue the successful path chosen together with TSG.”
Maximilian Beier moved from the youth of Energie Cottbus to the U17s of TSG Hoffenheim in July 2018, at the age of 15 at that time. He was trained at the club’s academy to become a Bundesliga player and returned to the Kraichgau ahead of the current season after a successful two-year loan spell at ambitious second tier side Hannover 96. With six goals and an assist in the first eight league games, Beier has not only joined Leroy Sané (Bayern Munich) as the best German goalscorer in the Bundesliga, he has also caught the eye of the coach of the German senior side. On 8 September 2023, Beier made his debut for the German national team at U21 level.
