Trio absent for first training session of the week

The Foals were without Jordan, Robin Hack and Florian Neuhaus for the start of this week’s training. Tomáš Čvančara returned to running training as he continues his recovery from injury.

While the carnival procession made its way through Mönchengladbach city centre on Tuesday, Borussia were busy preparing themselves for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash at RB Leipzig (18:30 CET). Jordan could not take part in the morning’s session with the team, having suffered a contusion during last weekend’s home game against SV Darmstadt. The attacker was, however, able to complete a light running session. “It’s a very positive sign that he’s ready to jog again. Whether it’ll be enough for him to play at the weekend, though, is still doubtful,” said head coach Gerardo Seoane.

Robin Hack, who also had to be substituted early on against the Lilies after picking up a knock, took part in an individual session with Florian Neuhaus, who is currently on a limited workload. “In an ideal world, Robin will be able to take part in team training on Wednesday,” said Seoane. Tomáš Čvančara resumed running training on Tuesday, while Jonas Omlin took part in various drills with the rest of the team for the first team since his shoulder surgery. “Tomáš has been working hard in the gym. It’s still difficult to put a date on when he’ll be back fully. He’s on the right track, though,” per Seoane, who continued: “Jonas has been out for a few months. He still needs a bit more time, but we can continue to re-integrate him into training with confidence.”

Wednesday morning’s training session (11:00 CET) is open to the public, as is the additional session for youth prospects at 15:00. The final two sessions before Gladbach’s visit to Leipzig will take place behind closed doors on Thursday (11:00 CET) and Friday (14:00 CET).

Florian Neuhaus and Robin Hack trained individually on Tuesday.
