Searching for Borussia’s Player of the Month for October

Joe Scally, Nico Elvedi, Rocco Reitz and Jordan are the nominees for October’s Player of the Month award, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. Fans can vote for their winner on the FohlenApp.

The Foals played three Bundesliga games (2-2 draw against Mainz, 3-1 loss away at 1. FC Köln, 2-1 win against Heidenheim) and one DFB-Pokal game (3-1 win against Heidenheim) in October. A different player was voted as Man of the Match in all four of these games, with Joe Scally, Nico Elvedi, Rocco Reitz and Jordan each scooping this award once during October. These four players have now all been nominated for the Player of the Month award for October.

Voting is now open and closes on Thursday at 23:59 CET on the FohlenApp.

Joe Scally: His goal at home against Mainz was his first at BORUSSIA-PARK. The USA international produced a stunning strike from about 18 yards out that went just under the bar in the 88th minute. This goal levelled the game up at 2-2, securing Borussia a point in their first Bundesliga game in October. Scally came on at half time away at Köln, whilst he played the full 90 minutes at right-back in both games against Heidenheim.

Nico Elvedi: The Switzerland international has returned to the Foals’ starting eleven since his contract extension. He played all 90 minutes in all four of Borussia’s competitive games in October and helped provide the Foals with more defensive stability. The 27-year-old also got on the scoresheet in Köln as he levelled things up at 1-1 with a header from a Franck Honorat corner.

Rocco Reitz: The VfL academy graduate has undoubtedly been one of the positive surprises this season. Despite lots of competition, Reitz has nailed down a place in central midfield thanks to his tireless commitment, his willingness to cover distance and his ability in individual duels. The 21-year-old started the Bundesliga game against Mainz and both games against Heidenheim, whilst he came on as a substitute at half time in Köln.

Jordan: The striker secured Borussia’s place in the round of 16 with his brace in the DFB-Pokal game against Heidenheim. First, he steered home a corner from Robin Hack (3’), before clinically converting from a pass from Nathan Ngoumou five minutes later (8’). He also demonstrated his quality and held up lots of balls up front as a target man in the other games in October – Jordan started the games against Mainz and Heidenheim, whilst he featured as a substitute away at Köln.
