Player of the Season nominees: Robin Hack
Rocco Reitz, Franck Honorat, Moritz Nicolas and Robin Hack have all been nominated for our Player of the Season for 2023/24, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. Today, we’ll be taking a closer look at Robin Hack’s season.
Robin Hack has been nominated for Borussia’s Player of the Season for 2023/24, along with Franck Honorat, Moritz Nicolas and Rocco Reitz. The forward has won the club’s last three Player of the Month awards.
Hack moved to Gladbach last summer from Arminia Bielefeld following their relegation to the third tier. He went on to feature in 29 Bundesliga games and four DFB-Pokal matches for the Foals, recording a total of 13 goals and three assists.
Hack mainly had to settle for a place on the bench in the first half of the season, but he stayed motivated and waited patiently to get his chance. “Of course I’d have liked to have been starting back then. But I knew that I had to settle in first as a new signing, and so I gave everything both in training and my substitute appearances,” said Hack.
The 25-year-old was rewarded for his hard work in the second half of the campaign. He netted a brace in a 3-1 home win over VfB Stuttgart in the first game back after the winter break. As time went on, Hack cemented himself more and more as one of the Foals’ key players. He scored another double in the 3-3 derby draw with Köln, struck the opener in the 1-1 draw in Heidenheim, netted a hat trick in the 4-3 defeat to Hoffenheim, and also got himself on the scoresheet in the 2-2 and 1-1 draws with Bremen and Frankfurt respectively. ‘Hacki’ went on to finish the season as Borussia’s top Bundesliga goalscorer with ten, and only Harry Kane (15), Lois Openda (13) and Serhou Guirassy (11) found the back of the net more often in the calendar year of 2024.
Robin Hack is in the running for the award alongside his teammates Rocco Reitz, Franck Honorat and Moritz Nicolas. You can vote now for your pick in the ‘Umfrage’ section of the FohlenApp until Sunday, 2nd June at 23:59 CEST.
