Franck Honorat: “The number 9 on the back gives me a great feeling”
In his first interview as a Gladbach player, Franck Honorat discusses why his move to Borussia is a dream come true, what qualities he can bring to the team and why the number 9 shirt is so special to him.
A very warm welcome to Borussia, Franck! How happy are you to now be a Foal?
Franck Honorat: This move to Borussia is a dream come true for me as I’ve wanted to play in the Bundesliga for quite some time. The past few years in France have been very important for me in order to gain more experience and improve before taking this step. I think the Bundesliga suits me very well as a player. With my speed and my crossing ability, I want to do my bit to help the team.
How would you describe yourself as a player?
Honorat: I often look to get in behind with my runs and thus bring some dynamism into the game. For me, it’s first and foremost about always giving it everything. It’s then important to do the technical and tactical things well; whether it’s receiving the ball, making a good pass or scoring or assisting goals. In my opinion, however, you can only do these things if you give it 100%.
Now we know what we can expect from you on the pitch, what are you like off it?
Honorat: I’m a family-oriented and emotional person. I like to please others and I enjoy spending time with my wife, my parents and my siblings. My wife and I are also expecting our first child. It will be born and raised here in Germany.
