Four Borussia players hoping to be involved in international action and Koné named in provisional Olympic squad

Four Borussia players are set to be involved in friendly matches with their respective national sides. Rocco Reitz will be in the Germany squad for their game against Ukraine. Stefan Lainer and Max Wöber’s Austria will meanwhile host Serbia, and Nico Elvedi and Switzerland are taking on Estonia. Manu Koné has also been called up to France’s provisional squad ahead of the Olympics.

Germany

Rocco Reitz (Photo: imago images / Schüler) will hope to make his senior Germany debut. The midfielder has been training with the national side for a week and will remain with the squad up to and including Friday’s friendly match against Greece at BORUSSIA-PARK on Friday (20:45 CEST). The 22-year-old will be in the squad for the friendly against Ukraine on Monday evening (20:45 CEST) at the Max-Morlock-Stadion in Nuremberg. “It’s not out of the question that [Reitz] will get on the pitch,” said head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Austria

Stefan Lainer and Max Wöber’s Austria will play a friendly against Serbia on Tuesday (20:45 CEST) at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna. The two defenders will be looking to impress head coach Ralf Rangnick to secure their spots in his final squad for the EUROs.

Switzerland

Nico Elvedi will be in Switzerland squad for their friendly against Estonia on Tuesday evening (20:15 CEST) at the Swissporarena in Lucerne. It is also their penultimate friendly ahead of the EUROs in Germany.

France U23

Coach Thierry Henry has announced his provisional squad for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. Borussia midfielder Manu Koné has been named on the 25-man list. The squad will be reduced to 18 players ahead of the tournament, which will take place from 24th July to 10th August.
