#BMGTSG: Match reaction

After the Foals 2-1 win over TSG Hoffenheim, we have the reactions of Florian Neuhaus, Christoph Kramer, Rocco Reitz and the two head coaches Gerardo Seoane and Pellegrino Matarazzo.

Florian Neuhaus: It wasn’t a classic, but that doesn’t matter today. We won the game and that was very important to us. With the three points, we’ve made a little movement up the table and we’re very pleased about that. Our fans have a great sense of what the team needs. That was also very important today. We defended our lead together with them. Now we’re looking forward to the Pokal game on Tuesday. We’re ready and want to get through to the next round.

Rocco Reitz: We’re really pleased that we could get another home win and this time didn’t let the equaliser knock the wind out of our sails. The first half was very equal and both teams had their chances. Hoffenheim scoring the equaliser immediately after Lasso’s penalty goal was a slight blot on our game. But we didn’t hang our heads and came back with Nathan Ngoumou’s goal. We then held onto our lead well. We can be very proud of that.

Christoph Kramer: It was an extremely important three points for us against a strong Hoffenheim team, who hadn’t lost away from home so far this season. I’m very pleased with how we’re developing currently. We’ve been putting our plan into place for a good two months now and are really difficult to play against at the moment. It’s really fun right now and I hope it’ll continue in this vein.

Head coach Gerardo Seoane: It was a very important win for us today. I have to compliment my team today, even though we know that the performance wasn’t quite what we wanted. Hoffenheim made it very difficult for us. You could see why this team are so strong away from home and in the top third of the table. My team reacted superbly to having so many players drop out at the last minute. I also want to praise the fans who pushed us forward in the final phases and cheered everything we did well.

Head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo (TSG Hoffenheim): We didn’t have to lose this game. For the two goals we conceded, we made two bad mistakes that Borussia punished. An unnecessary foul led to the penalty for the first goal, as Plea was actually moving away from goal. We lost our defensive structure for the second goal, even though we had an extra man. In the periods of pressure that we sometimes had, we were often missing the final blow to score more goals.
