Goalless draw in friendly against Unterhaching

A day after the win against Frankfurt

FCA faced off against SpVgg Unterhaching in a friendly arranged at short notice a day after the 2-1 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt. The game ended in a goalless draw.

In freezing conditions, FCA head coach Jess Thorup made eleven changes to his starting line-up for the friendly against the third-division side. FCA threatened in front of goal for the first time in the first half through Nathanaël Mbuku, whose right-footed effort hit the crossbar (25’). Mert Kömür had another chance to put his side ahead around ten minutes before the interval, but Unterhaching’s goalkeeper was able to deny him (37’).

FCA also set the tone in the second half. Following a triple substitution at the break, David Čolina was unable to get the better of the third-division side’s goalkeeper in the 52nd minute. It was once again Kömür who had the best chance of the game in the 71st minute as he lined up a free-kick from around 20 yards out, but his strike hit the bar following a slight deflection. In the following stages, both sides repeatedly got into good positions around the penalty area, but neither team really threatened to make the crucial breakthrough.

FCA: Koubek – Pfeiffer (46’ Bauer), Winther, Zehnter, Čolina, Breithaupt (77’ Deger), Engels (46’ Tanganga), Mbuku (77’ Hausmann), Kömür (77’ Japaur), Okugawa (66’ Kaube), Beljo (46’ Michel)
