FCA beat Ingolstadt 7-0 in a friendly
Gumny makes his comeback, Kabadayi scores twice
FC Augsburg played third-division side FC Ingolstadt 04 on Thursday afternoon in a friendly during the international break. The match, played on the training ground next to the WWK ARENA, ended 7-0 to FCA.
With 10 FCA players away with their national sides on international duty, Robert Gumny was able to make his return after his ACL injury to start against Ingolstadt. A number of academy players also made the squad.
Wearing the green away shirts, Jess Thorup’s side started brightly and looked to press their opponents from the 3. Liga. After several dangerous crosses in the final third, the opening goal eventually came in the 21st minute after a mistake by the Ingolstadt goalkeeper. Phillip Tietz had a simple finish into an empty net from around 10 yards out. Henri Koudossou got Augsburg’s second goal of the day 10 minutes later, receiving the ball from Alexis Claude-Maurice and then bursting into the box before picking out the bottom corner. A brace from Yusuf Kabadayi (41’, 43’) just before the break gave the Fuggerstädter a 4-0 lead at the interval.

FCA made two changes for the second half, introducing Felix Meiser for Keven Schlotterbeck and Mads Pedersen for Marius Wolf. Thorup’s team continued to control the game and create chances, adding to their lead in the 59th minute. The ball fell to Mahmut Kücüksahin on the edge of the box and he curled a shot home via the underside of the crossbar for 5-0. Arne Maier, captaining the side in the absence of Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, made it 6-0 in the 66th minute following a nice pass by Tietz. Thorup gave five youngsters the final 10 minutes and Fynn Heinze took full advantage of the opportunity, scoring FCA’s seventh and final goal just a minute after coming on.
FC Augsburg are next in action on Friday, 22nd November (20:30 CET) away at FC Bayern in the Bundesliga.
