Mixed results for the FCA players on international duty

Jakić taken off injured, Rexhbecaj sees match abandoned

FCA’s players in action for their international sides on Thursday and Friday experienced mixed results and a whole range of emotions.

Kristijan Jakić’s Croatia were beaten 1-0 in Scotland after playing the majority of the game with ten men. The FCA midfielder suffered a cut to his knee in the first half and had to be substituted before the end of the game. Goalkeeper Nediljko Labrović meanwhile did not feature.

Elvis Rexhbecaj, who missed the Bundesliga match against TSG Hoffenheim due to suspension, was named in the starting eleven for Kosovo. Their game in Romania ended abruptly however. With the score at 0-0, the match was abandoned in injury time because of alleged provocations from the crowd.

Chrislain Matsima impressed again in his fourth appearance for the France U21 side, playing the full 90 minutes of the 2-2 draw against Italy. Mert Kömür, who was not named in Germany U20’s starting line-up on this occasion, suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat in England.

A draw in the clash of FCA players

On Thursday, there was a match of particular interest to FCA fans as Steve Mounié’s Benin took on Frank Onyeka’s Nigeria. The game ended 1-1. Mounié played the full 90 minutes, while Onyeka came off the bench in injury time.

Dimitris Giannoulis came on in the 56th minute of Greece’s match against England, but could not prevent an eventual 3-0 defeat.
