Felix Uduokhai extends contract
Defender stays at FCA
FC Augsburg are pleased to announce that defender Felix Uduokhai, who has already played 91 competitive games for FCA, has extended his contract a further year until 30th June 2025. The 25-year-old signed the new papers on Wednesday.
“After I had told the management ahead of the training camp that I didn’t want to extend my contract, I had a rethink. The training camp and the weeks of pre-season have shown me that the changes initiated by the club are very promising. Great characters have been signed who are helping the team and we have a great spirit within the whole squad. That convinced me to change my mind,” says Felix Uduokhai.
“I can understand that FCA have to rely on players who see their futures at the club. That’s why it would have been emotionally difficult for me on one hand to give 100 percent for FCA in the coming season, but on the other hand to know that my time here will come to an end next year. In order to be able to go into the season freely and to make a contribution, I’ve decided to extend my contract,” the 25-year-old explains further.
“We wanted Felix Uduokhai to stay at the club and also extend his contract. He’d made a different decision, which we had to come to terms with. It’s all the more encouraging that he’s been convinced to extend his contract after all. It gives us more sporting and financial opportunities, as well as stability,” said FCA’s sporting director, Stefan Reuter.
“I’m very pleased that we could come to an agreement with Felix and that he continues his path as an FCA player. The talks were very productive. As a leader, with his character and his athletic quality, he’ll further strengthen our team,” said FCA’s director of football, Marinko Jurendic.
