Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up their interest in Tottenham forward Harry Kane as Florentino Perez has an alternative target in mind.
Following the departure of Karim Benzema, Real Madrid are in the market this summer for a new number nine.
They have been linked with several stars, but Kane seems to be high up on their transfer list right now.
However, a fresh report has claimed that Real Madrid are hesitant over the transfer as club president Perez is instead focused on a move for PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.
The report from Relevo has explained that Madrid have ‘begun to hesitate about the feasibility of the operation’ for Kane this summer.
It is claimed that Perez is instead willing to wait until next summer when he believes they will be able to sign Mbappe instead.
This news has ‘troubled Ancelotti’ as the Italian boss wants to strengthen the squad now and not wait until next summer.
The club are considering using Rodrygo as a makeshift number nine for the time being, although Ancelotti isn’t a fan of this idea.
Real Madrid have been linked with some other forwards of late as they continue to weigh up their options.
Chelsea’s Kai Havertz is a player of interest,
“Real Madrid are not intentioned to pay €60m plus add-ons for Kai Havertz,” Fabrizio Romano reported.
“He’s appreciated by board and Carlo Ancelotti but no plan to spend that amount of money.
Real Madrid could yet go back in for Kane, but their hesitance will have been noted by Europe’s other elite clubs.
Manchester United for example still hold an interest in Kane this summer.
