Premier League giants ‘not deterred’ by new Caicedo contract as report reveals Arsenal’s stance

Reported Liverpool target Moises Caicedo tackles Declan Rice

Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs in for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.

Caicedo penned a new contract earlier this week after he tried to leave the south coast club in the winter transfer window.

Arsenal had two bids rejected by the Seagulls and were reportedly willing to pay up to £70million for the Ecuador international.

The player publicly announced his desire to move, but Brighton stood firm and have now agreed fresh terms and given him a significant pay rise.

Many saw this as a blow to Arsenal, Chelsea and co. but Caicedo’s new deal has not had an impact on interest in him, according to The Telegraph.

The ‘biggest clubs’ in the Premier League are expected to be in for the 21-year-old this summer ‘despite signing a new contract’.

Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool are among those interested in the young midfielder, the report states.

Those interested are not ‘deterred’ by his new deal – which was handed to him to ‘reflect his importance’ to Brighton.

It is claimed that Arsenal will not reignite their interest in Caicedo with West Ham United’s Declan Rice their top summer target.

However, if they fail to land Rice, the Gunners could well be back in for Caicedo.

The Ecuadorian will be ‘one of the league’s most sought-after players’ in the summer and the majority of big clubs are in the market for a new midfielder – including Premier League champions Man City.

There is a lot on what midfielders could be on the move at the end of the season.

Chelsea could lose N’Golo Kante when his contract expires and are expected to be in the market for a new central midfielder anyway.

Liverpool target Jude Bellingham obviously gets a mention, while it is noted that there is an ‘expectation within the industry’ that Caicedo’s club teammate Alexis Mac Allister – – will leave Brighton at the end of the season.

While Caicedo could be a target for Man Utd, they are expected to prioritise Frenkie de Jong – who snubbed the Old Trafford club in 2022.

Everton’s Amadou Onana and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia also get a mention, despite only joining their respective clubs last summer.
