Man Utd offer Fred to Fulham with news expected ‘soon’ on incoming midfielder at Old Trafford

Man Utd are weighing up the possibility of selling Fred to Premier League rivals Fulham ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Brazilian has lost his place in the starting line-up this season with he signings of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro knocking him down in the pecking order.

When all players are fit, Erik ten Hag seems to prefer a midfield three of Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes with Fred and Scott McTominay getting fewer minutes this campaign.

And the Manchester Evening News now claim that Man Utd are ‘considering possible Fred transfer to Fulham’ with the Cottagers an option as they look to improve their midfield.

Fulham, , finished tenth as a newly-promoted side and ‘intermediaries have proposed a possible move for Fred to Fulham as United want to recruit a younger midfielder’.

The Manchester Evening News add that Man Utd ‘are under pressure to raise funds to reinvest in incomings to fall in line with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules’ and Craven Cottage could be the perfect destination for Fred with a number of Portuguese speakers in their ranks.

Fred will enter the final year of his contract at Old Trafford at the end of June and Man Utd could see now as the best time to move on the 30-year-old.

The report touches on interest from Newcastle in McTominay but adds that the Red Devils have ‘not provisionally planned for his sale as he is their youngest senior midfielder’.

And there have been a number of names linked as possible replacements for Fred with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot preparing to leave Turin on a free transfer.

Goal in Italy claims that it is ‘no mystery’ that and ‘recently tested the ground again’ after making their interest known a year ago.

So far there have been ‘exploratory contacts’ between the Red Devils and his representatives and there are expectations that those talks ‘could lead to something more substantial soon’.

The report in Italy insists that ‘all roads lead to goodbyes at the end of the current year’ at Juventus and that it will be his ‘final season as an absolute protagonist’ in Turin.
