Niklas has been with Werder for almost half of his life, during which he overcame adversity and went on to become one of the heroes of our promotion. Niklas Schmidt transferred from FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in 2012 into the Werder Bremen academy, making his debut for the Bundesliga team in 2016. He played 25 matches for Werder in the Bundesliga (3 goals), 25 matches in the 2. Bundesliga (2 goals), and 62 matches in the third division (10 goals).
