At the heart of the team

It has been an emotional few months for Senne Lynen. After the successful run in Europe, his club fell short in the Jupiler Pro League in Belgium. Just days after the dream of a historic first league title for Saint-Gilloise since 1935 was shattered, Lynen and his wife Jolien became parents to their daughter Joolz at the beginning of June. “For me, it went from being the biggest disappointment to the happiest feeling in the world,” revealed Lynen, who is now moving to Bremen with his family.

Lynen is taking on a new assignment for Werder in the Bundesliga. The midfielder has already proven that he is up to the task in Europa League matches against Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen. “I can’t wait to get to know the boys and be around a new group of players again”, said the Belgian. “I want to find my role within the team during my first week in Bremen and help them to win as many games as possible.”

Lynen has partaken in an intense pre-season, having already played two games in the Jupiler Pro League for his former club. He is therefore fully fit as he looks to settle into his new environment and bring his qualities into the team. “I play in the middle as a defensive or box-to-box midfielder”, Lynen explained. “With my quality of passing and the mileage I cover, I want to be at the heart of the team and help them succeed as a result.”
