As the development of the club continues, 1. FC Union Berlin’s Executive Committee have taken the decision to expand the management team in terms of content and personnel.
The marketing and sales department, which was most recently led by Thomas Stäpke, will be the future responsibility of Jan Boysen. The 40-year-old was previously in charge of sponsorship and marketing at Union and will take over the position while handing over his previous responsibilities. Stäpke, as Managing Director of Finance, will now focus fully on financing and cost controlling the upcoming construction projects in relating to the youth academy and Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
Anja Kasper will head up a new digitalisation division at the club from October 1. A graduate in business administration, Kasper has many years of experience in managing digital projects at Daimler AG and will be in charge of leading Union in this area for the future.
“We want to meet the demands of a fast-growing Bundesliga club at all levels in order to continuously develop the entire club and its subsidiaries. The professionalisation and specialisation of the business divisions is indispensable for this, which is why we are delighted to have two new proven experts in our ranks in the shape of Anja Kasper and Jan Boysen,” said Union President Dirk Zingler. “My thanks also go to Thomas Stäpke, who has successfully mastered the task he took over on a provisional basis and is now handing over the area of marketing and sales to Jan Boysen.”
