1. FC Union Berlin and left-back Tymoteusz Puchacz are parting ways with immediate effect. The Polish international is moving to fellow Bundesliga club SV Holstein Kiel.

Turkish champion and DFB Pokal finalist

The 25-year-old came to Köpenick from Lech Poznań in the summer of 2021 and was loaned to Trabzonspor in Turkey six months later. Puchacz celebrated winning the Turkish league with the club in the Turkish port city. Six months after his return to the German capital, he went on loan to Panathinaikos in Athens. The 14-time Polish international narrowly missed out on the next league title with the Greek club. Last season, the left-footer was loaned out to second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern and reached the final of the DFB Pokal with the ‘Red Devils’, where they were beaten by Leverkusen.

Puchacz made a total of ten appearances for Union, including five in the Europa Conference League. He scored one goal and provided one assist for the team.

The views on the transfer

“Over the past three years, I’ve been able to gain a wide range of experience at various clubs,” said Puchacz ahead of his move north. “I would like to thank the staff and my team-mates for their support, and I will always have fond memories of the Union family and all the fans. Now I’m looking forward to a new challenge.”

‘Unfortunately, Tymoteusz didn’t quite make the breakthrough at Union. Nevertheless, he made good use of his loan spells and was able to develop further. In addition to the Turkish championship, his participation in the EURO24 with the Polish team was certainly a special milestone for him. We wish him every success and all the best in Kiel,” said Horst Heldt, managing director of men’s professional football at 1. FC Union Berlin.
