On Saturday, 3 August 2024, 1. FC Union Berlin will host the official season opener at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. For the first time in the club’s history, all visitors can enjoy two games of 90 minutes of professional football plus a presentation of both teams and their coaches and support staff.

The stadium will open its gates at 12:00 before just one hour later head coach Ailien Poese’s newly promoted side will play against the Bundesliga’s SV Werder Bremen. Before the men’s match against Olympique Lyonnais kicks off at 17.00, both Union teams will be officially introduced on the pitch.

Programme schedule:

  • 12:00 | Stadium opening
  • 13:00 | Kick-off 1. FC Union Berlin vs. SV Werder Bremen
  • 15:30 | Presentation of the women’s team
  • 16:00 | Presentation of the men’s team
  • 17:00 | Kick-off 1. FC Union Berlin vs. Olympique Lyonnais

Travel information:

  • All visitors to the season opener are advised to come with extra time to the stadium, as there are restrictions on public transport. 
  • There are no trams running between Schöneweide S-Bahn station and the Alte Försterei stop. Lines M17, 21, 27, 37, 60, 61, 67 are interrupted due to track construction work around Treskowallee, Brückenstraße and Wilhelminenhofstraße; a rail replacement service with buses has been organised.
  • There are also restrictions on the S-Bahn line 3 to and from Köpenick S-Bahn station. It is currently running on a single track with limited capacity. However, the S-Bahn will continue to run every 10 minutes. 

Ticket information:

  • Tickets for the double match day are on sale online and at all Union shops.
  • Union are offering a special offer for families in the standing area (sectors 2 & 3). The family ticket at a price of €18 including fees is valid for one adult plus one child*. The price increases by €4 for each additional child. The family offer can include up to four children. Further information can be found here.

Aditional information:

  • The stadium rules apply. Bulky items such as pushchairs may not be brought into the stadium.
  • As there are no storage facilities on site, all visitors are requested to avoid bringing bags or rucksacks larger than A4.

* Applies to children up to 12 years of age. Children up to 5 years old do not require their own ticket.
