1. FC Union Berlin have extended their contract with striker, Maria Cristina Lange

Most efficient attacker in the Regionalliga

The 23-year-old “Nina” Lange moved to Berlin-Köpenick from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in the summer of 2023, immediately making an impact. In five league matches the tall striker scored eleven goals, including five in a 13-0 win over Berolina Mitte. Born in Rosenheim, she averages a goal every 24 minutes in Union kit.

The fact that Lange has not been able to play more than those five competitive matches for Union so far is gowever mainly due to bad luck with injuries. She has been absent since November 2023 due to a long-term knee injury.

Views on the contract extension

“I was well received at Union right from the start and was impressed by the professional conditions offered to us players,” said Lange. “The club has also actively supported me in my rehab since my injury. I am therefore delighted that I have extended my contract and that we can continue this successful period. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the team succeeds in gaining promotion and that we can attack together in the 2. Bundesliga next season.”

“I’m delighted about the extension and I’m convinced that Nina will come back just as strong,” said Jennifer Zietz, Union’s director of women’s and girls football, meanwhile. “Until her injury, she was a key player in our team and played a major role in getting us off to such a good start to the season.”  Berlin.
