Marius Bülter leaves Union for Schalke

Marius Bülter will leave 1. FC Union Berlin and join up with Schalke, ending a period of two years at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.

The attacker’s career took off as he went from fourth division football to Magdeburg, impressing against Union in the 2.Bundesliga. He joined Union in 2019 and played 36 times in his first season in Köpenick. In his third Bundesliga game for Union, he scored a double against Borussia Dortmund and went on to strike five more times. In total, Bülter scored eight goals in Union colours.

“I will never forget my time at Union. There are many moments that I will always remember fondly: My Bundesliga debut, my first goals, staying in the league in my first year. With the qualification for Europe we have achieved something incredible as a team, now I wish the club and all the fans only the best for the future, but also look forward to my new task in Gelsenkirchen,” said the 28-year-old attacker.

“Letting Marius go is difficult for us. He is a great lad in sporting and personal terms. Given his achievements for us in the last two years, we will keep a lot of great memories. Now it was his wish to commit to Schalke in the long term, for which we wish him all the best,” Oliver Ruhnert, 1. FC Union Berlin’s Managing Director for Professional Football.
