This summer the Berlin Football Association (BFV) held their annual vote in various categories to determin. Over 15,000 votes were cast and the winners have now been chosen.

Ailien Poese, Union’s women’s team’s head coach came out on top in the women’s category against seven opponents with 26.2% of the votes. After a record-breaking season in the Regionalliga Nordost, the title in the Berlin Polytan Cup and promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, this is the next success in a glittering year.

“I’m delighted to receive this award and would like to thank the whole team for it,” said a delighted Poese on the announcement of her honour. “What we achieved last season was only possible together. That’s why the title also goes to my entire staff and the team. It was an incredible season with the crowning glory of being promoted to the 2. Bundesliga. At the moment we are still savouring the great moments of the past year, but of course we are also looking to the future and are meticulously preparing for the start of preparations and the season.”

In the vote for “Berlin’s Footballer of the Season 2023/24”, Fabian Reese from Hertha BSC received the most votes (63.3%), while Union’s Frederik Rönnow and Christopher Trimmel took second and third place with 14.9% and 6.1% of the votes respectively. They were followed by Kevin Vogt and Robin Gosens in fourth and seventh place.

The winners of the other voting categories “Berlin Woman Footballer of the Season” and “Berlin Amateur Footballer of the Season” will be announced next Monday, 8 July 2024.
