VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “Hoffenheim fought tooth and nail until the very end. We’re happy to have scored such a late goal. The team kept believing until the end, so we look back on this game with mixed emotions. We’re happy that we managed to equalise, but we wanted to head into the international break on the back of a victory.”

TSG Hoffenheim head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo: “It’s a shame we only ended up with a point. The penalty situation could have gone either way. The lads showed incredible spirit – there were so many crosses flying into our box at the end, which is how the penalty came about. I’m not blaming my players – on the contrary, I’m proud of their team spirit.”

Ermedin Demirovic: “The penalty wasn’t an easy situation. I had too much time to think and ended up switching sides again, which I normally don’t do. I have to admit, I was nervous with the rebound because I had to score. We’ll take the point, we’ll analyse the game and go again after the international break.”
