VfB Stuttgart earned a 2-1 victory over Vitesse Arnhem at the FC Deisenhofen sports complex in the south of Munich on Saturday. Atakan Karazor (27’) and Juan Jose Perea (78’) got the goals for head coach Sebastian Hoeneß’ side, with Million Manhoef (46’) replying for the Dutch first division side.

The boys from Cannstatt are next in action on Saturday 29 July when they meet Borussia Mönchengladbach and TSV 1860 Munich at the Heimstetten sports park in a pre-season mini-tournament. The team’s final warm-up game of the summer is in Sheffield on 5 August.

Sebastian Hoeneß: “I was very pleased the game was able to take place today and I’m happy with how it went. I thought we were really good in the first half, our pressing was good but we were too sloppy in the final third. We could definitely have scored again from three or four promising situations we created. The second half didn’t start well as we conceded so quickly, but we got back into the game. The boys have worked hard and it has to be tough for them because that’s what pre-season is all about. It’s always good to win though.”
