More than 80 football-crazy girls and boys aged between 8 and 17 took part in the two training camps, held from 3–6 June in Lake City and from 10–13 June in St. Augustine, in Florida. The coaching staff, led by Micha Gühring, who is head of international football projects at VfB, carried out a successful training programme and two coaching courses, giving local coaches the opportunity to get an insight into the Bundesliga, the club and its structures. This was also the first time that VfB Stuttgart had travelled to Florida.

The two training camps were once again very well received by the children, youngsters and parents involved. The children’s and youth football activities and the camps are all part of VfB Stuttgart’s globalisation strategy within the USA. Hosting the training camps in Florida was a way for VfB to extend the club’s current focus across the east coast of the USA. Following on from the two in June, there will be four more training camps in the states of New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and Florida throughout the rest of 2024.

In March earlier this year, the VfB Football School organised training camps in Austin (Texas) and Warwick (New York), and since the first-team’s visit to Austin in 2022, there have been regular exchanges to that end with a local partner.
