Match summary
Early lead
Sebastian Hoeneß’s side dominated from the outset in Münster and took the lead through an early goal from Angelo Stiller (7’). VfB refused to ease off and remained firmly on top, with Ermedin Demirovic doubling the lead in the 15th minute from Stiller’s cross.
Stuttgart were equally impressive at the back, refusing to give their opponents a sight of goal, and eventually took a 3-0 lead into half-time following Pascal Stenzel’s header (35’).
Woltemade and Karazor add gloss
Stuttgart retained their focus in the second half too, and did not let Münster get a foothold in the game. The tie was effectively put to bed as a contest in the 72nd minute when Nick Woltemade struck, before Atakan Karazor rounded out the scoring from the penalty spot following a handball (80’).
VfB will discover their second-round opponents when the draw takes place on Sunday at 17:00 CEST.
