For the four VfB players in the Germany squad, the Hungary match on Wednesday evening at EURO 2024 was like a home game in Stuttgart. Maxi Mittelstädt was once again in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes, setting up Ilkay Gündogan for the second goal with a clever and accurate pass.

Chris Führich was the second VfB player to feature, coming on in the 71st minute, and he was joined just under a quarter of an hour later by Deniz Undav. The win was the second in as many matches for Germany, and ensures that Julian Nagelsmann’s side are through to the round of 16 ahead of their final group game on Sunday against Switzerland.
