VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We started the game really badly and went a goal down after just 21 seconds. That threw us off course. We had chances today but we just weren’t clinical enough with them, and that meant we had to chase the game after our poor start.”
Waldemar Anton: “We were asleep in the first half, we weren’t clinical enough. We threw everything forward in the second half and created some chances but we didn’t manage to score an equaliser. We lost too many challenges and balls. We’ll digest it quickly and move on.”
Deniz Undav: “That’s not how we wanted to start the year. The early goal we conceded messed us up. We lost the game in the first half, we were lacking a lot of things. We showed a good reaction in the second half. Our counter-pressing was better but our finishing wasn’t. I have to take advantage of the chances that come my way.”
