The centre-back, whose contract with VfB runs until 30 June 2025, has spent the last 18 months on loan at Swiss Super League club FC St. Gallen.
Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “In Darmstadt, Matej has the prospect of continuing his excellent progress of recent years by playing regularly in the Bundesliga. We’ve therefore agreed to loan him to Darmstadt for the coming season.”
