Deniz Undav: “It’s an amazing feeling and a dream for me to be a Germany player now. It doesn’t get any better than being involved in the European Championship in your own country. I’ll keep giving my all, will bring a positive atmosphere into the team and will try to score whenever I’m able to take to the pitch during the EURO.”
Maximilian Mittelstädt: “It’s still all so surreal for me. A year ago I would never have imagined having the year we’ve had. Having said that, I’ve always believed in myself and I’m extremely happy and proud of the path I’ve taken. I’ve felt trusted here at VfB since day one, I had a good feeling right away and I was able to perform well on the pitch. I’m very grateful for that. For me personally, it would obviously be a dream to play in the final in Berlin, but the game in Stuttgart is also special and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Chris Führich: “I was delighted to be nominated and I called my family right away. Playing at a European Championship on home turf – it doesn’t get any better than that! I want to do my best for the national team and help the side out. There’s a huge sense of euphoria, both among the players and the fans.”
VfB captain Waldemar Anton: “I’m looking forward to the atmosphere in the camp. Everyone’s really up for it and wants to produce top-class performances with the support of the country and the fans. That’s what we’re looking forward to most.”
VfB goalkeeper Alexander Nübel: “It was a big surprise for me. I found out on Tuesday evening. I’d already booked my summer holiday but obviously I’m happy to cancel that now. It means so much to me to represent Germany, and especially at the home European Championship, it’s just amazing.”
