Ahead of VfB’s first Bundesliga game of the season against VfL Bochum, Enzo Millot and Co began their preparations for the fixture in front of approximately 700 fans. After the session, Millot took stock of the DFB Cup triumph over Balingen: “I was really happy that I scored. The first goal is important in cup games like that so that you can play a bit more freely afterwards. That’s how things went on Saturday too. I saw the gap at the near post and put the ball in there. For us it was a good way to prepare for the start of the Bundesliga.”

Special goals

The midfielder has been lacing his boots for VfB for two years now, and he has scored some crucial goals in that period. Fans will no doubt remember his strike in the 1-0 win over Nuremberg in the DFB Cup quarter-finals in 2022/23, while he also fired in a vital equaliser to make it 1-1 against Hamburger SV in the relegation play-off second leg last season. The 21-year-old is keen to avoid a repeat of that latter circumstance this term, however: “I hope we can secure our top-flight status a lot sooner. Our fans are always there for us and always support us. We can feel that out on the pitch and their support is special. I’m really looking forward to our first home game against Bochum.”
