The general meeting voted Claus Vogt out of office as president with the majority required by the articles of association (86.03 per cent), taking effect immediately.
The motion to dismiss Rainer Adrion was approved by 70.02 per cent of the members present, falling short of the three-quarters majority required. Prior to the vote, however, the vice president also put forward a vote of confidence and announced that he would resign in the event of more than 50 per cent of votes being in favour of his removal.
“The trust in me to help shape the future of VfB in a positive way is no longer there,” he said after the result of the vote was announced. “Tomorrow I will therefore tender my resignation in writing as a member of the executive committee and supervisory board, in accordance with the articles of association.” He then left the general meeting.
Advisory board appoints interim president
As the articles of association stipulate that any removal from office should take effect immediately, and Rainer Adrion was no longer at the general meeting when Claus Vogt was voted out, the chairman of the club’s advisory board, Rainer Weninger, will continue the current general meeting as chairman and has received the approval to do so.
The removal of the president requires that an extraordinary general meeting be convened immediately, as well as the appointment of an interim president by the association’s advisory board. This body will meet on Monday 29 July 2024 and will swiftly and carefully address both issues, and provide members with comprehensive information in a timely manner.
