VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We started off really well, controlled the match and didn’t let Wolfsburg create anything. We then took a 1-0 lead with our first real chance, and that obviously helped us a lot. It was basically a very good first half from us, and we gave virtually nothing away. Overall we also put in a very decent second half as well. When the score became 3-2 the game was wide open again, but the lads fought and defended incredibly hard together right to the end – and thanks to that, we can be proud of our win.”
Josha Vagnoman: “It ended up being tough for us in the last few minutes because Wolfsburg threw everything forward after they got it back to 3-2 and tried everything, but we can be really satisfied and proud of taking the three points today. It was a good first half and in the second, we came straight back at them after they’d equalised and showed them what we were made of.”
Serhou Guirassy: “We showed some real team spirit today. It’s not an easy place to come and play but we demonstrated a lot of character and were good value for the win. I’m delighted with my goals but the victory is far more important than that – particularly after only coming away with a draw last week.”
