Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann announced his 27-man provisional squad for EURO 2024 in Berlin on Thursday. Five VfB players have been called up, with Chris Führich, Maximilian Mittelstädt and Deniz Undav – whose places in the squad were confirmed earlier this week – joined by captain Waldemar Anton and goalkeeper Alexander Nübel.

“The fact that five VfB players have been named in Germany’s provisional squad for the European Championship on home soil is a great honour for each player personally as well as for VfB,” said sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth. “We’re delighted to be represented at the home European Championship with such a large number of players. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for our lads and, of course, the entire Germany team for a successful Euros.”

Germany face Scotland (14 June), Hungary (19 June) and Switzerland (23 June) in the group stage of the tournament. The clash against Hungary will be a home match for the VfB contingent, with the game taking place at the MHPArena (kick-off 18:00 CEST).
